Children’s home

In the children’s home. Two of the kids will be into their 10 th grade the coming academic year. The oldest children have been with us for 11 years now. It is going to really be a challenge for us to prepare these kids for the final 10 th grade exams amidst all the crowd and work here. Thought they are bright kids, they will be given extra attention this year to their studies. The little one are the new ones and they are coping well.

Heath care

We had a free eye check up in the school for all the school children. Especially due to the hot weather here infectious diseases are very common. These sort of camps help people get a little relief from such infections. We also conducted hygiene awareness camps to educate people about personal and community health.

School

Our school caters to the poorest of the poor children. Such children that cannot afford any sort of education. They are taken in and prepared for life’s challenges.

A cultural event was held in the school premise inviting all community people, and a skits enacted by the children to show how important education is in a life of a human being. How man gets more adaptive, more presentable, more capable, and improves his condition from poverty to a good life.

People from their families have never studied before, so education is a new venture for them. Melwyn is a child from a very disturbing backgrounds. His mother, they say, went mad, and this child having witness all of it is still appears very sad and depressed. For a few days now he has been mingling with the others and gelling in quiet nicely. Because of memories of their recent past, kids take time to adjust and get used to the others.

In school we had a sports day where all kids were given an opportunity to participate and a very healthy competitive spirit was cultivated in children. Our school took part in an event organized by the government, and we are proud to say that most of the awards were bagged by our school in almost all departments.

Our school children took part of an international event called “Kids Games “ we children from different counties and all walks of life participated.

Along with schooling, children learn of good morals from the bible. Our dedicated staff tell them of the love of Jesus Christ. How he died on the cross to save them from sins. The children study the bible in their subject Moral Science. We leave it to them to decide which is the right path for them.

Women in crisis

Rathna, a young who was kicked out by her inlaws, saying that she was the bad omen that brought about her husbands death, though he was already a drunkard was going to commit suicide when she was rescued by our social worker. She was about to throw her two little children aged 2 and 4 into a deep rock pit and fall in herself. She was brought home and counseled, clothed, fed. Her children were cared for, and she was told that God loves her and her children and wanted her to be of use to her in this world. This lady is going well now. She is self sufficient and takes care of herself and her children now.

Christy, is another women who had run away with her child because her husband would beat her up. He is now married to another woman, and Christy was made to work for the both of them. She was threatened that if she did not work for them she would be killed . This tormented made her run away from her home In Tamil Nadu to come to our state of Karnataka. She did not know what to do in such a big city because she was not educated and did not know city life. There were already men trying to use her and exploit her. Cristy was given a home, and treated like one in the family. She and her son age 4 were rescued and trained to be able to find employment in a garments factory. Now she is doing well.

Menakshi, is another lady who was battered by her husband. She was also badly ill treated by her motherinlaw. Her husband who had married another women was not providing for Menakshi and her two children. The husband acts like these kids are not his anymore, and blames Meenakshi for every thing. Meenakshi was finally forced to leave the house. She came to us seeking for help. She was immediately employed on our school as a helper for the school children. She was assisted in finding a house, and starting a new life. She is doing well now.

There are many more cases like this who come to us during their moment of great need and we always have an open door to such people. The lost is blessing his work and enabling us to do more.
