COMMUNITY HEALTH PROGRAM AND HIV/AIDS EDUCATION:
We often conduct HIV/AIDS related programs in our school building. AIDS, especially in developing countries like India, has reached alarming proportions. The number of HIV-positive people in India is estimated to be among the highest in the world. Though this disease is evenly spread out cutting across socio-economic lines, it is chiefly the women and children from poorer communities who bear the brunt of the stigma associated with the dreaded disease and are sidelined from the society. Women in rural areas lack basic personal hygiene and knowledge of contraception. Commercial sex workers and their children are also at high risk of contracting this disease due to lack of awareness. We are striving to educate communities and create awareness about AIDS and protect vulnerable women and children by caring for them.
Implementation :
- The community is often invited into the school complex and given such HIV related education.
- We organize regular medial checkups for all school kids. Eye examination, and free general medical checkups are given.
- Children in our school and village people are taught emergency medical treatments like CPR, personal hygiene, and ways to stay away from preventive diseases.
A lot of people suffer from serious illnesses from preventable diseases. By implementing these kind of medical camps, we help in early detection of diseases and doing away with bacterial and fungal infections that plague slums and backward areas.
